Internship Program

Many students in the Cinema program complete internships that help prepare them for jobs in film and other media fields, and sometimes lead to full time employment at these companies.

School of Communication faculty often take an active role in arranging these opportunities for students.  For instance, Professor Lauren Cook organized internships for Cinema students at VSI Media that turned into regular jobs at this production company that has a staff of editors, graphic designers, writers, producers.  Students have interned on feature films in major production companies in New York City, Los Angeles and Hartford, and have worked at large post-production companies like Deluxe.  Others have had successful internships in television, including MTV, NBC, Connecticut public broadcasting, and local television news stations in Hartford.  These internship opportunities will further expand with the opening of a new major production studio in the Hartford region.  Students can receive academic credit for these internships that count toward their graduation requirements.
