Nicholas Mastrangelo – Junior

The University's environment really fosters creativity and camaraderie, and I am very thankful for the help of my fellow classmates and faculty for supporting me in everything I create and do.

IMG_3240I am Nicholas Mastrangelo, a junior cinema-student at the University of Hartford. I greatly enjoy the cinema department for its academic balance between film analysis and production. Many colleges offer exclusively one or the other, but our University’s offering of both presents students with the benefits of both: Courses in film studies help students’ filmic perspectives, which leads to aware and knowledgeable filmmakers, and production creates a critical understanding of how films are made. Thus, both studies of film analysis and production help each other, and are therefore largely beneficial for anyone pursuing various careers in cinema.

At last year’s Reel Film Fest, the student organized film festival, my short film/trailer “Digital You” won the Grand Jury Prize, a feat of which I am extremely proud. The University’s environment really fosters creativity and camaraderie, and I am very thankful for┬áthe help of my fellow classmates and faculty for supporting me in everything I create and do.
